Roof Flashing

These are included in the steel roof range hood kits and tiled roof range hood kits.

You will need to cut the hole larger in the EPDM rubber on the flashing to fit the galvanised pipe through. At Pacific Air, we recommend that you put the pipe under the flashing to work out how much to cut off. Always be conservative as it is easier to cut off. Cutting is easy with either standard scissors or shears. We recommend always use a sealant between the galvanised pipe and the flashing to ensure a water-tight seal.

When installing the flashing on a tiled roof, sometimes removing a tile completely is required. In other installations, cutting a tile is a more effective method. Some installers prefer to cut the aluminium part of the flashing to suit. Others prefer to fold or lay it out over the tiles. Always tuck it under the higher tile to ensure that rain does not flow under the flashing.

We encourage roof flashing to be installed by a professional such as a roof plumber - as it can be a complex task - and particularly difficult without having the correct tools. The main objective at the end of the day is to ensure a water-tight seal, so do use a hose after installation to check if any water has entered into the roof cavity.
